Under the auspices of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Kadhim A. Adem, and organized by the Continuing Education Unit, the Institute of Laser held a scientific workshop titled “Scientific Publishing”, with the participation of a select group of professors and staff at the institute.
The workshop was presented by Asst. Lect. Tabarak A. Sabah, a lecturer at the institute, who reviewed the global scientific publishing system, mechanisms for selecting reputable indexed journals in recognized international databases, as well as explaining scientific journal evaluation indicators such as Impact Factor, CiteScore, SJR, and Q1-Q4 classifications.
The workshop also covered the basics of preparing research for international publication, important academic quality standards, and professional mechanisms for dealing with scientific peer review. Additionally, it highlighted the ethics of scientific publishing, the risks of predatory journals, and ways to verify the credibility of journals before publication.
The workshop aimed to enhance the culture of scientific research among the academic staff and raise awareness of the importance of publishing in reputable journals with global rankings, contributing to elevating the academic and research level of the institute and enhancing its presence in international rankings.
The workshop saw significant interaction from attendees through interventions, questions, and constructive scientific discussions, which contributed to enriching the workshop’s topics and achieving its scientific and developmental goals.
