It emphasized combating the perils posed by drugs, which target the nervous system’s cells and inflict various diseases such as immunodeficiency, leukemia, and hepatitis, besides their detrimental effects on the user’s body.
The session focused on safeguarding the university community by advocating for measures to combat drug abuse, raise awareness about its dangers, and devise strategies for addressing it. The workshop underscored that drug abuse not only harms the individual but also detrimentally affects families and society at large.
Various topics were covered during the workshop, including the definition of drug addiction and its social implications. Consequently, the workshop formulated several recommendations, including parental monitoring and awareness, avoiding negative peer influences, and prioritizing prevention and education efforts through media, civil society organizations, religious leaders, intellectuals, and community leaders, aiming to shield society from the scourge of drugs and psychotropic substances.
