Visit of the Human Rights Follow-up Committee to the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies.
As part of the University Presidency’s efforts to follow up and develop the work of human rights units in university formations, the Institute of Laser received the Human Rights Follow-up Committee, headed by the Director of the Human Rights Division, Prof. Dr. Asma Jamal Rashid, and members, Ms. Ola Karim Isa and Ms. Nuha Ali Fadhil, to review the reality of the unit’s work and enhance its institutional performance.
The committee was received by the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Kadhim A. Adem, and the Director of the Human Rights Unit, Mr. Mustafa Hamed Nidah. A comprehensive meeting was held during which the nature of the unit’s work, its main activities, and efforts to establish human rights principles within the university environment were reviewed.
The meeting included an extensive discussion on the main challenges facing the work of the Human Rights Unit, and mechanisms for addressing them, as well as proposing a number of suggestions and ideas that would develop performance and enhance coordination with relevant authorities, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University Presidency.
During the visit, the committee emphasized the importance of activating the awareness-raising and educational role of human rights units and working to spread human rights culture among students and staff, contributing to building an academic environment based on justice, equality, and respect for human values.
This visit is part of a series of field visits carried out by the University Presidency to follow up on institutional performance, support administrative units, and upgrade the level of services provided, enhancing the position of educational institutions and keeping pace with quality and development requirements.
