The Women’s Affairs Unit at the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies organized an awareness workshop titled “The Silent Threat of Addiction: Impact on Women’s Health and Future.” under the auspices of the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Kadhim A. Adem. The workshop was held as part of the institute’s efforts to promote community awareness of health and social issues that directly affect women.
The workshop included a scientific lecture delivered by Lecturer Noor M. Jabbar, which discussed the concept of addiction, its types, and the most prominent health, psychological, and social risks it poses to women. The lecture also highlighted the negative impact of addiction on women’s family roles and their scientific and professional futures, as well as ways to prevent and treat addiction and the importance of family and community support.
The workshop was attended by the Deputy Dean, Dr. Saif Aqeel, and a number of faculty members and staff from the institute. They emphasized the importance of organizing such awareness-raising events, which play a vital role in spreading health awareness and promoting knowledge about the dangers of addiction and ways to reduce it, ultimately contributing to building a more aware and stable society.
