Under the auspices of the Dean of the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Kadhim A. Adem, the Continuing Education Unit at the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies held a scientific workshop entitled “Combating the Phenomenon of Suicide,” as part of the Institute’s efforts to raise community awareness of psychological and behavioral issues and address them through sound scientific and educational methods.
The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Israa Hafidh Qader, a faculty member at the College of Engineering / University of Baghdad. She discussed the most prominent psychological and social causes leading to suicide, methods of prevention, and the importance of family and institutional support in caring for at-risk individuals. She also reviewed several statistics and studies that highlight the scale of the problem and the need for concerted efforts to reduce it.
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Kadhim A. Adem, and the Assistant Dean, Lecturer Dr. Saif A.Mohammed, along with a number of professors and Institute staff. At the end of the workshop, the Dean presented a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her scientific efforts and valuable contribution to the success of the workshop’s activities.
