As part of the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to follow up on the development of postgraduate programs, the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies at University of Baghdad hosted a ministerial committee to establish postgraduate studies. The purpose was to study the establishment of a Higher Diploma program in (Laser Applications in Science) and a master’s program in (Laser Applications in Engineering), as part of the follow-up and evaluation procedures adopted.
The committee was received by the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Kadhim A. Adem, accompanied by the Assistant Dean, Dr. Saif A. Muhammad. They welcomed the committee members and presented a comprehensive overview of the institute’s scientific and administrative status and the level of readiness achieved for the new programs.
During the visit, the academic and administrative requirements, infrastructure, and necessary facilities were reviewed and discussed, including teaching staff, specialized laboratories, scientific library, medical clinics, and modern equipment. The proposed curricula for both programs were also discussed.
The ministerial committee expressed satisfaction with the level of organization and readiness demonstrated by the institute, praising the efforts made by the dean’s office and department heads in providing all scientific and technical requirements according to approved standards.
The committee emphasized that this step is part of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s efforts to develop postgraduate programs and enhance the educational and research process, in line with the latest global scientific trends, and to prepare specialized scientific personnel in the field of laser applications.
