Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Kadhum AbdulWahid Adem, Dean of the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies, and as part of the scientific and cultural activities organized by the institute, an introductory lecture titled “Iraqi Academics Syndicate” was held. The lecture was presented by Dr. Haider Al-Mahdawi, representative of the Iraqi Academics Union at University of Baghdad. During the lecture, he reviewed the role of the union in representing the teaching staff, defending the rights of academics, and promoting the culture of union work in the academic community. The lecture also addressed the union’s goals in supporting and developing the reality of higher education in Iraq, the mechanisms for joining it, and its role in protecting the independence of higher education and enhancing the professional and social status of university professors. The session witnessed a remarkable interaction from the attendees, with interventions and questions that enriched the discussion and confirmed the importance of building bridges of cooperation between the union and academic institutions. At the end of the lecture, the Dean awarded a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Haider Al-Mahdawi, valuing his valuable efforts in making this event a success, and praising the vital role played by the Academics Union in serving the educational family and enhancing the status of university professors in Iraq.
