The Laser Institute for Postgraduate Studies is a specialized academic institution linked to the University of Baghdad that responds to the various requirements and needs in modern scientific fields related to laser. The institute was established in November 1993 as a research center, which was transformed in January 1996 into a specialized institute for postgraduate studies.
The institute aims to qualify different and specialized cadres through academic programs in higher diplomas, masters and doctoral degrees in laser applications in basic, engineering and medical sciences, and the subsequent applied and theoretical research that can be employed for the benefit of different beneficiaries in addition to carrying out assembly and installation works And maintenance of medical and industrial laser systems.

The institute provides scholarships for postgraduate studies for non-Iraqis to study a master’s degree and a higher diploma in laser medicine. The scholarship committee will review and evaluate all applications according to a number of criteria that include the qualifications and academic achievements of the applicant and the level of language in addition to the requirements of the study program.
The committee may also contact the applicant to schedule an electronic interview to discuss more information and details about the applicant.
The applicant must provide the university with the following required documents and fill out the form below in the language of his choice (Arabic / English)
Academic documents certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the student’s country and the Iraqi embassy or cultural attaché in that country
A valid passport for a period of not less than two years from the date of submission
Research plan (research proposal) for PhD applicants only
Two Recommendations from teachers who hold the title of professor in the field of specialization
Identification documents
Non-conviction issued by the home country
Identification documents issued by Iraqi government institutions and departments for non-Iraqi applicants residing in Iraq who are not employees
