Under the auspices of the Dean of the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Kadhim A. Adem, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Scientific Affairs Unit at the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies, held a scientific workshop titled “Microprotein in Mitochondria”. The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Asmaa M. Saleh, a faculty member at the Institute, and was attended by the Assistant Dean, Dr. Saif A. Mohammed, along with a number of professors and staff members of the Institute.
The workshop addressed the definition of microproteins and their vital role inside mitochondria, as one of the essential components responsible for regulating many important cellular processes, including energy production and maintaining the efficiency of cellular vital functions. The lecturer also reviewed the latest scientific studies and research related to these proteins and their importance in understanding some diseases associated with mitochondrial dysfunction.
The workshop witnessed interaction from the attendees through scientific discussions and questions that enriched its topics, emphasizing the importance of continuing scientific activities that contribute to enhancing knowledge and developing research skills for faculty members and researchers.
