Under the auspices of the Dean, Professor Dr. Kadhum Abdul-Wahid Adem, and in the presence of a group of faculty members and staff from the institute and various centers, the Institute of Laser, in collaboration with several research centers at University of Baghdad, organized an awareness scientific seminar titled “Developing Women’s Capacities to Protect the Environment.” The seminar aimed to define environmental security and its impact on the levels of womens’ productivity.
The seminar also discussed the importance of green energy and how to protect it as a renewable energy source, women’s health in the context of sustainable development, and the role of media in raising women’s capacities to protect the environment and addressing climate change. Additionally, the seminar explored the role of women in environmental education for society.
The participating centers included the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Urban and Regional Planning Center, the National Center for Population and Demographic Studies, the University Health Division, and the Natural History Research Center and Museum.
At the end of the seminar, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants by the Dean of the Institute of Laser, Prof Dr. Kadhum A. Adem. This seminar is part of the implementation of the directives of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which includes executing the Third National Plan for Women, Security, and Peace for the year 2025, based on its three pillars.
This seminar achieves two of the Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 5, which calls for gender equality by supporting and empowering women’s developmental roles in achieving sustainable development, and Goal 15, which focuses on “life on Earth.”
