The discussion of the titled master’s thesis took place at the Laser Institute for Postgraduate Studies, University of Baghdad: “The effect of different types of lasers on the efficiency of dental ceramic repair.”
By the student Nour Badr Hassan and supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Basema Muhammad Ali Hussein
The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of carbon dioxide, erbium chromium laser, and the effect of fiber optic laser on dental ceramics as a way to modify the surface roughness and improve the bond strength of the repair material inside the mouth.
According to the results of the study, the researcher concluded that surface treatment of porcelain using a carbon dioxide laser and an erbium chromium laser followed by the use of fluoric acid could increase the surface roughness and increase the bond strength of the repair material,  while the use of the erbium chromium laser can be recommended for use in intraoral zirconia repair.
