Under the auspices of the Dean of the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Kadhim A. Adem, the Continuing Education Unit at the Institute held a workshop titled “Countering Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism”. The workshop was presented by Mr. Saif Sabri, with the participation of Mr. Mohammed Sabbar from the Ministry of Interior / Community Police Directorate, and in the presence of the Assistant Dean, Dr. Saif Aqeel, as well as a number of professors and staff members of the Institute.
The workshop highlighted the concepts of violent extremism, its intellectual and social causes, and its negative effects on individuals and society. It also discussed the role of educational and security institutions in prevention, treatment, and promoting a culture of tolerance and rejection of violence.
The lecturers emphasized the importance of partnership between academic institutions and security agencies in spreading community awareness, promoting citizenship and civil peace values, and confronting extremist ideologies with knowledge and dialogue.
At the end of the workshop, the Dean of the Institute awarded certificates of appreciation to the lecturers, valuing their outstanding efforts and effective contribution to the success of the workshop.
