The Laboratory of Photonics and Sensors was established in 2011, and its head at that time, was Professor Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Hajem in 2014. The students of the group enjoyed research missions to China as well as America to manufacture the latest types of optical fibers, such as, the lateral cavity optical fiber, as well as, the optical fiber with the D-Shaped. The Bragg grating was also manufactured from a six-cell optical fiber in laboratories of Hauzhong University. Then, it was necessary to change its name to “Photonics” headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Tahrir Safaa Mansour, and from that time, the focus began on manufacturing photonic devices and preparing plasmonic designs to ensure an advanced communication system with all its concepts and dimensions. Note that the group equipment was carried out by two pilot projects, the first was focused on photonic crystal fibers with 19 and 7 cavity omitted air cells, and the second project was concerned with the Bragg-grooved optical fibers.
