{"id":4977,"date":"2026-09-20T12:34:42","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T09:34:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ilps.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=4977"},"modified":"2026-09-20T12:41:21","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T09:41:21","slug":"the-institute-of-laser-for-postgraduate-studies-discusses-a-phd-dissertation-on-designing-optical-polarization-converters-and-a-graphene-based-switch-using-deep-learning-for-quantum-key-distribution-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ilps.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=4977","title":{"rendered":"The Institute of Laser discusses a Master&#8217;s thesis on a hybrid optical system based on gold-coated fiber Bragg gratings."},"content":{"rendered":"<h6 dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">At the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies \u2013 University of Baghdad, the Master&#8217;s thesis submitted by the student Mustafa Duja Ali, entitled:<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Multi-Wavelength Generation Utilizing Hybrid Plasmonics Fiber Interferometer\u060c was discussed.<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The thesis was supervised by Asst, Prof, Dr. Tahreer Safaa Mansour. The study aims to build an advanced self-amplified spectral slicing device based on the plasmonic principle of a Fabry-Perot interferometer in the low-attenuation telecommunications band (C-Band), characterized by high efficiency and stability, while simultaneously providing precise mechanical sensing capability in a single integrated system dedicated to advanced optical communication networks (DWDM).<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The study included the design and construction of the hybrid system and testing its performance under mechanical strain, and comparing it with a single tilted grating system. The optical results showed that the system succeeded in generating 30 optical lines within the C-band with a precise spectral spacing of 0.8 nm, achieving high performance stability under mechanical strain.<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The physical study also demonstrated the role of the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) phenomenon and the evanescent field resulting from the tilt angle and the gold layer in inducing the differential plasmonic attenuation phenomenon. This interaction contributed to the redistribution of optical power and provided an automatic negative amplification of 25 nW in the central range of the spectral waves without the need for active amplification media, which increased the efficiency of the system compared to traditional systems.<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><\/h6>\n<h6 dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The thesis was accepted with an Excellent grade, as it fulfilled the requirements for obtaining a Master&#8217;s degree in Laser Applications Sciences.<\/span><\/h6>\n<div data-smartmail=\"gmail_signature\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wpa-warning wpa-image-missing-alt alignnone wp-image-4984\"
