At the Institute of Laser for Postgraduate Studies – University of Baghdad, a Master’s thesis discussion was held for the student Tijan Khalid Kadhum, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Zainab Fadhil Mahdi and Dr. Balsam Saadi Abdul Hamid, entitled “The Impact of Laser Irradiation of Lithium Disilicate Surface on Wettability and Microhardness Properties”<\/span><\/h6>\n
The study aimed to evaluate the thermal and mechanical properties of aesthetic dental restorations polymerized by different wavelengths of blue diode laser (405, 410, 450, 473 nm) compared to conventional light curing method. Two main indicators were tested: temperature rise during polymerization and surface hardness. The results showed that 410 nm laser achieved the best balance in terms of increased surface hardness with minimal temperature rise, while 450 nm laser showed high hardness but was associated with a temperature increase that may pose a risk. The study also found that blue diode laser generally provides better results compared to conventional method in improving the properties of aesthetic restorations while reducing thermal effects. Based on this, the researcher concluded that using blue diode laser, especially at 410 nm wavelength, represents a promising and effective option for improving the quality and durability of dental composite restorations.<\/span><\/h6>\n
